Mandala Labyrinth | Original Painting Born from Meditation

painting born in the silence of Buddhist monasteries in Laos.

Mandala Labyrinth was created during an artist residency in Laos, where I spent part of my time teaching art to young Buddhist monks.

While they meditated, I would stay nearby and paint.

In that silence, faces, eyes and fragments of the human figure began to emerge spontaneously. I allowed them to appear without trying to control or fully understand them. Layers of color, gestures and lines gradually connected these fragments, creating what felt like a map of the mind.

The painting became a meditation of its own.

The mandala represents the search for a center — a place of balance, contemplation and inner order. The labyrinth represents everything the mind encounters on its way there: memories, emotions, contradictions, images and thoughts that appear, disappear and return.

Between abstraction and figuration, multiple faces coexist within the same composition. Some are immediately visible; others reveal themselves only after spending time with the painting.

There is no single path through Mandala Labyrinth.

Just as in meditation, each viewer enters the work from a different place and discovers their own way through it.

Created in Laos and shaped by an experience of silence, teaching and contemplation, this one-of-a-kind original painting explores the complexity of the human mind and our continuous search for an inner center.
