Genesis of One Sculpture
Created in Brussels during Paco Rocha’s studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, Genesis of One emerged from months of observing both male and female life models. Beyond their physical differences, the artist became fascinated by the shared human essence present in every body.
This observation inspired the creation of a hybrid figure that unites masculine and feminine energies into a single presence. Hand-sculpted in clay over a nine-month period and reproduced through a traditional handcrafted mold-making process, the sculpture preserves the textures and gestures of its creation.
Created using four natural earth tones—black, brown, sepia, and white—the work symbolizes the diversity of humanity while emphasizing a common origin that transcends race, culture, and identity.
