Incubating Wings portrays a woman in a moment of transformation — suspended between who she has been and who she is becoming.

Her body remains curled inward, almost as if protecting something that is still developing. From her back, wings begin to emerge.

They are not fully formed yet.

For me, this is where the meaning of the sculpture lives: in that intimate and uncertain moment when change has already begun inside us, even before the outside world can see it.

The sculpture explores feminine transformation, personal growth, rebirth and freedom. It can resonate especially with women experiencing a transition in their lives — beginning again, leaving something behind, changing direction, rediscovering themselves or becoming the person they want to be.

Rather than representing a woman who has already achieved freedom, Incubating Wings captures the process of becoming free.

She doesn't have wings because she is free.
Her wings are growing because she is becoming free.

The turquoise figure contrasts with the organic texture and natural grain of the wood, creating a dialogue between the human body and nature.

Like a seed opening, a cocoon transforming or a new branch beginning to grow, transformation happens gradually. The irregular shape of the wood becomes part of the sculpture itself, reinforcing the idea that personal transformation does not follow a perfect or predetermined path.
